Dr Kenneth Sharp is originally from Woodbury, NJ. After high school, he moved to Florida
and studied music. He was very active as a musician on the Sun Coast of Florida (in the
Clearwater area). Playing folk and classical guitar, flute and alto flute, and singing, he
played many different genres of music - from traditional folk music to contemporary jazz.
At age 31, he relocated to his home state of New Jersey and studied Biological Sciences
at Rutgers University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993. From college,
he went on to study medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey -
School of Osteopathic Medicine with an emphasis on primary and emergency care.
Interestingly, Dr Sharp and Dr Howland, with whom he shares his office, both graduated from
UMDNJ on the same day in 1997.
After medical school, Dr Sharp completed his Family Medicine Residency and was Chief Resident in Family Medicine at
York Hospital in York, Pa (which held the designation as one of the Top 100 Hospitals in the United States). He is Board
Certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.
After residency, Dr Sharp moved to Carbon County where he has been an active member of the medical community.
In 2008, he founded Lehighton Family Medicine, a unique practice in Family Medicine, to help provide primary care for
the residents of Carbon and the surrounding counties.
In 2011, he joined Heartland Hospice as a one of their Hospice Physicians and has been fully trained in hospice and
palliative medical care.
Dr Sharp's desire is to reside in the same area where he practices medicine. He is very active in several local and civic
organizations and recreational activities. He continues to play guitar and flute and enjoys playing Praise and Worship Music
and is an active member of Living Hope Lighthouse Church in Palmerton, PA.
